Incorrect flange Surface Finish for the Gasket Type

It is not recommended to specify a smooth (30–63 Ra) surface finish for a spiral-wound gasket, or a rough (above 500 AARH) surface finish for a sheet gasket.

Spiral-wound gaskets require a surface finish of
125–250 AARH (3.2–6.3 μm Ra) for proper sealing. If the surface is too smooth, the gasket will blow out, and if the surface is too rough, the gasket will not seal properly.
