thyssenkrupp Uhde signs engineering contract with Hive Energy Limited for 1200 tpd green hydrogen/ammonia production plant in Spain

thyssenkrupp - Uhde - Hive Energy Limited

Pre-FEED to advance engineering development for the "ALBAMED I project"
Proven RHAMFS® methodology for concept optimization of green ammonia plants

Oct 9, 2023 - thyssenkrupp Uhde has been appointed by Hive Energy Limited to provide a pre-FEED to support the development of Hive's first green hydrogen/ammonia production plant in Spain. The pre-FEED was awarded following a comprehensive techno-economic study for the energy-to-ammonia plant, conducted in 2022 using thyssenkrupp Uhde's proprietary RHAMFS® methodology.

The main purpose of the pre-FEED is to improve the engineering concept and begin key engineering activities for the plant. thyssenkrupp Uhde will base the pre-FEED on its dynamic Uhde® ammonia synthesis technology, developed specifically to address the unique challenges of dynamic ammonia production, and will also provide the integration engineering for the process plant. The pre-FEED will enable Hive Energy to navigate the subsequent commercial and regulatory phases of project development.

Dr. Cord Landsmann, CEO thyssenkrupp Uhde, said, We at thyssenkrupp Uhde are making an important contribution to the green transformation. With our technologies and new partnerships, such as this one with Hive Energy Limited, we are building a solid business case for this pioneering green energy project. This is another important step towards the sustainable and climate-friendly production of green ammonia.

Shirvine Zhang, Head of Hydrogen and Hybrid Energy at Hive Energy Limited, commented, Hive's mission is to implement sustainable and clean technologies to mitigate the effects of climate change. We look forward to implementing this project with world-class companies that are equally climate-focused, such as thyssenkrupp Uhde, to support the energy transition.
