When I use information from another website, I cite it on the relevant page of my own site.
That citation is usually just a line of text, without a clickable link.
The reason for this is that website administrators make changes to their sites, and a link from my site can give you a “page not found” error, and that’s really irritating.

Raised Face Height

The 2003 edition of ASME B16.5 included metric units as the primary reference units, while U.S. customary units were retained.
One notable change in this update is the adjustment to the raised face height, because in pressure classes 150 and 300, the raised face height is specified as 2.0 mm (0.06 in.), whereas it should be approximately 1.6 mm.
Pipe flanges in classes 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500 are supplied as standard with a raised face height of 7 mm (0.25 inch), in addition to the minimum flange thickness.
On my website, however, I still use approximately 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) for classes 150 and 300, and 6,35 mm (1/4 inch) from class 300 through class 2500.
It is completely unclear to me why ASME has used the small differences in millimeters compared to inches in its B16.5 standard.
I would be grateful to anyone who can explain this to me.
And yes, I am certainly aware that building a piping system cannot be compared to making a Swiss automatic movement, like IWC or Patek, but..
